WORKING HOLIDAY – THE LIFE OF A WINEMAKER!

WORKING HOLIDAY – THE LIFE OF A WINEMAKER!

There are so many similarities between Burgundy, France and the Hunter Valley, Australia. The people are friendly, there is an abundance of great quality wines, and the regions are steeped in history. So when the opportunity presented itself to pair a family holiday with a working holiday, I looked no further than Burgundy. We have had such a great time here, visiting vineyards, enjoying end of vintage drinks or “Paulet” as they say in France, feasting on traditional Burgundy dinners and just taking in the culture. On top of this, I have had the privilege of working with one of the great producers here in Burgundy – Michel Mallard who is the winemaker at Domain D’Eugenie, part of the Chateau Latour. I’ve tasted 100’s of different wines, compared their styles, learnt about different vineyard techniques and winery production methods all whilst sharing the experience with my young family.
